The U-Boat Peril:
A Flight for Survival

Book Review

by Guy Goodboe

Author: Captain Bob Whinney
Publisher: Cassel Military Classics, London 1998

The author was commander of HMS WANDERER over 1943 and 1944, a converted long-range escort destroyer credited with sinking of U-30S (Bahr), U-390 (Geissler) and U-523 (Pietzcsche).

The book starts out rather slowly with an early biography of the author, but picks up the pace as the war years draw near. A short read of 160 pages, but definitely worth the time.

Thanks Guy. All members are encouraged to give us their book reviews of any military books, past or present.
