2001 Membership Contest Ends We are off to a great start for the 2001 Membership Contest. We see that two ‘veterans’ of the recruiting contests are already in the fray but so too are two new Members. While these Members have one each new Member to their credit, the year is just beginning. JOE BURGES (605-A/LIFE-1988)
What do these guys all have in common - other than being quick to take advantage of a great contest? They are all submarine veterans. No, it is not necessary that you be a submarine veteran to recruit new Members - all Members are urged to jump into this contest and win. Everyone has a great opportunity for 2001. 2000 Membership Contest Ends There are yet a few more new Members in the contest, but the old ACE of recruiting ACES did indeed, lock it up. Others have done a great job and we thank you all. These are the OFFICIAL results of the 2000 Membership Contest. JOE BURGES (605-A/LIFE-1988) : 55 BUD DANA (245-A/LIFE-1987) : 2

Goodbye CHRIS USCG Senior Chief CHRIS WILLS (1935-A/LIFE-1991) has served aboard our Advisory Board for ten years now, and it is time for him to retire from this function and join the ranks of Advisor Emeritus. CHRIS, many thanks for your help and good advice over these ten years. Goodbye ‘Lucky’ FLUCKEY RADM EUGENE FLUCKEY (2169-1992) is the most highly decorated American submariner of all time, and he has served well on our Advisory Board for the past ten years. We deeply appreciate the time and effort he has put into this task and now he becomes an Advisor Emeritus. Many thanks Admiral - it is greatly appreciated! KTB #54 was only 16 pages long, done on that old typewriter. Hello HEINI Captain GÜNTHER HEINRICH (1945-L-1991), C.O. of U-960 (the last U-boat through Gibraltar in World War II) has accepted a position on our Advisory Board. He will serve until the year 2010. (photo at right) Hello ZEKE MYRON BLAHY (5432-C-1997), known to his friends as ZEKE, has accepted the other position on the Advisory Board. He will also serve until the year 2010. Welcome to our two new Advisors! Welcome HARTMUT the “LAST” HARTMUT GÜNTHER (6228-2000) is our last Member to sign on in the year 2000. He was recommended by our good friend, HANS-GEORG HESS (125-LIFE-1985), the youngest combat submarine Skipper of World War II. He agrees that the old veterans must be remembered honestly for what they suffered and survived and that the old propaganda is wrong. This naturally is what we have said all along - tell the history honestly and accurately. Only 45! Remember, we can take only 45 people aboard the bus for our April ‘Patrol in Paradise’ so don’t delay. Get your reservations in and enjoy the company of your fellow SHARKHUNTERS under blue skies and on the golden beaches of Florida. Welcome DON The FIRST DONALD FEINDT (6229-2001) was our first new Member of 2001 and he signed up his brother, thereby becoming the first to have a new Member to his credit in the Membership Contest. Welcome aboard to DON and also ANDY FEINDT! Pleased and Proud We are pleased and proud to announce that SHARKHUNTERS International is affiliated with the Society of Florida Archivists.
