In answer to a question from DALE GESSNER (5403-C-1997), Hans Gessner was Born 6 May 1919. He joined the Kriegsmarine in 1938 and so became part of the Crew (Class) of 1938 in the German Naval Academy. At first he served aboard a U-Jäger (sub chaser) with the 11th U-Jägdflottille. He was a Watch Officer on U-1105 (Black Panther Boot) from July to Oct. 1944 then became Commander of U-1008 from November 1944 until the end of the war. He became a doctor after the war and still lives in Germany.
