Far Eastern Correspondent YOYA KAWAMURA (1739-LIFE-1991) sends this information on the newest Chinese ‘Boomers’.
- The first of the Chinese SSBN ‘094’ class has been launched and will be commissioned soon. It will have the new-generation SLBM ‘JL2’ missile with an effective range of 8,000 kilometers. Six of this Class are planned. This new type SSBN was expected around the year 2005 but evidently they will be joining the fleet two to three years earlier than that.
