Japanese Boats

10 Oct. 1943, the ITN. submarine I-20 under command of Ots'ka was sunk possibly by USS EATON (DD 510) at 07.40S x 157. 10E or more likely, was a marine casualty. During her time in combat, I-20 launched 11 attacks, sinking seven ships and damraging 4 more including the 29,150 ton British battleship RMS RAMILLIES.

18 Oct. 1943, ITN. submarine I-19 under command of Kobayashi was sunk poss. by A/C of M104 at 04.57N x 163.03E. During her time in combat, I-19 launched 9 attacks which sank 4 ships including the 14,700 ton American aircraft carrier USS WASP, and damaging 5 more including the 35,000 ton USN battleship USS NORTH CAROLINA.

ITALIAN

No Italian submarines-were lost in October of 1943.
