The German Navy in World War II

Book Review

by Dick Cole (204-1986)

von der Porten, Edward P.

Hardbound edition first published by Thomas Crowell, New York in 1969, containing 274 pages, 40 photographs

Originally published in English, this book surveys the history of the Kriegsmarine during the war years. The treatment is somewhat standardized, with little detailed or unusual information. Most of the photos have been published elsewhere. However, the book does have the distinction of being endorsed by GrossAdmiral Karl Donitz, who wrote a brief foreword to it. U-Boat coverage is not as complete as one would like.
