The 9th U-BOOTFLOTTILLE was a Frontflottille (combat flotilla). It was based at Brest, France from November 1941 until August 1944.
The emblem of the 9th Flottille is very familiar to anyone who knows anything about the U-Bootwaffe. This was the conning tower emblem of U-96, the boat of HEINRICH LEHMANN-WILLENBROCK (120-+-1985).
The Flottillen Chef (Flotilla Commander) was
- JÜRGEN OESTEN (1681-1990) from Nov. 1941 until March 1942:
HEINRICH LEHMANN-WILLENBROCK (120-+-1985) from May 1942 until August 1944.
