BILL PLEXICO (4037-1994) has compiled a list of U-Boats that lived past the end of the war. As you might guess, there are a lot of boats on this list which requires that we publish it section by section in many issues of our KTB Magazine. This began in KTB #117. When the list of German U-Boats is finished, we will begin with the list of US Navy submarines that survived the war.

U-1023 was surrendered in May of 1945 at Weymouth; went to the Royal Navy as N-83; then scuttled off the NW coast of Ireland in Operation DEADLIGHT in 1945/1946.

U-1057 was surrendered at Flensburg 5 May 1945; went to the USSR in 1946 as S-81; scrapped in 1963.

U-1058 was surrendered at Flensburg 5 May 1945; went to the USSR in 1946 as S-82; scrapped in 1963.

U-1064 was surrendered at Trondheim in May 1945; went to the USSR in November of 1945 as S-83; scrapped in 1963.

U-1105 was surrendered May 1945; went to the Royal Norwegian Navy as RNN-16 in 1945; to the US Navy in 1946. This was the well-known ‘BLACK PANTHER’ boat that was rubber covered, known as ‘ALBERICH’ which was supposed to thwart sonar. The boat was ‘expended’ on 18 November 1948 by hanging a depth charge beneath the center of the boat and triggering from the shore. The Navy wanted to observe the results of a detonation under a boat. The wreck has recently been discovered and is now the focal point for a Memorial Park in Maryland.
