‘CHAZ’ is a quality assurance inspector in an industrial spring factory. He has been interested in the German U-Boats since going through U-505 and reading IRON COFFINS when he was only 12 years old. He was greatly impressed by the dedication and loyalty of the young men who served and died. He said he would like to see IRON COFFINS turned into a movie (how prophetic!) He could not read the book only once.

He tells us: “I was taken by R.N. submarine for secret raid(s) on the French coast late in 1942. Later I was tortured by British Marines in Scotland (along with one other Canadian) thinking at the time, to keep us quiet.) all ordered by Louis Mountbatten. I had hoped to get confirmation of such journeys. The British seem unwilling to talk. I emphasize I was a member of the Allied (Canadian) Armed Forces. On my second trip, the R.N. sub crew were cruel and abusive to us.”
