“The hate mail is piling up to the ceiling. Angry phone calls just don’t stop coming in”

That is what Alex Sheffield told me in a phone call late June regarding the situation with the USS CABOT. We have run articles on several occassions regarding the Legion post that is doing everything they can to turn this priceless item of US Navy history - American history - into scrap metal in an Asian junk yard. He was not happy with our editorials that condemn this Legion post for trying to make profit for themselves by destroying the ‘IRON LADY’ of the Pacific. He complained that we were not telling their side of the story - that we were making them seem like heartless bums for selling American Naval history. Yep, I guess we were doing just that and that is exactly the way it appeared all along, and still does to us today.

I told Alex Sheffield that if he something to say, that he should put it in writing and send it here; and that we would certainly run it in our KTB Magazine. I cannot imagine any excuse they could possibly have for moving Heaven and Earth to get this American Memorial turned into Toyotas, but we are fair and honorable here at SHARKHUNTERS and I offered Alex space to tell their side of the story.

We held space for two weeks, but finally had to go to press and there was still nothing from Alex Sheffield or anyone else at Legion Post #377. Perhaps next month.......

GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS

This issue, and so far all KTB Magazines for 1996, have been pretty much on time. In a couple weeks, I am headed off to Russia and Ukraine for our SHARKHUNTERS/EAGLEHUNTERS participation in the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Navy, so you know what that means - the next issue of our KTB Magazine will be a little late.
