ANSWERS ARTHUR JACOBSON (2154-1992) writes: “I want to make a comment on the little piece in KTB #117 on page 10 about the Japanese midget submarine captured off Pearl Harbor. It was displayed at Times Square, not Rockefeller Center, when it was in New York City. If LEN PORTZLINE (1094-1989) would like to take another, closer look at this particular submarine, he still can! The sub is now part of the Admiral Nimitz Museum State Historical Park in Fredericksburg, Texas. You can also see a Japanese ‘long-lance’ torpedo at the museum.” (HARRY’S NOTE - this midget submarine had been at the Lighthouse Museum in Key West for many years, but had been moved to the Nimitz Museum a few years ago.) CHRIS WILLS (1935-A-1991) answers ROGER BESAW (4229-1995). “Most of his questions about German U-Boat Bunkers will be found in the book ‘DIE DEUTSCHEN U-BOOTBUNKER UND BUNKERWERFTEN’. The book is in German, so ROGER will have to translate.” GARY WALTERS (4503-1995) answers the question from JASON LOBO (4474-1995) by listing the books which have references to the TYPE II boats that were taken to the Black Sea.
“MEMOIRS - TEN YEARS AND TWENTY DAYS” “U-BOAT ACE - STORY OF LÜTH” “THE SEA WOLVES” “SUBMARINE WARRIORS” “THE DEATH OF THE U-BOATS” “UNDERSEA WARRIORS” “THE TWO-OCEAN WAR” QUESTIONS More questions from ROGER BESAW (4229-1995)
