In July 1941, the Italian submarine ETTORE FIERAMOSCA was scuttled after battle damage. ETTORE FIERAMOSCA departing on her final patrol 2 Aug, 1941 the Italian sub TEMBIEN was rammed and sunk by HMS HERMIONE at 36.21N x 12.40E. She was carrying P.O.W.s at the time. 7 August, 1941 the Italian submarine MICHELE BIANCHI was sunk by the British submarine HMS SEVERN at 34.48N x 13.04W.
