4131-1995 Dr. TERRY E. LUXFORD US “My interest in submarines comes from early childhood and when a young man, my father gave me a one-foot-long plastic submarine. When a keel cavity was filled with baking soda and the boat launched across a pool, this boat (which looked a lot like a TYPE XXI) would dive forward, hover near the bottom, then resurface. My mother couldn’t bake for a month; I confiscated her supply of baking soda! I almost failed Junior High English because, instead of diagramming sentances I was reading ‘DAS BOOT’ and Admiral Karl Dönitz’s ‘MEMOIRS’. My time in the Navy brought me to USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20) and USS SILVERSIDES (SSN 679).”

4143-1995 STEVE ROBBINS USA
“I have always been fascinated with WW I and WW II U-Boats. I took up SCUBA diving in 1989 after learning about U-853 lying intact off Block Island and have since made numerous dives on her. I am currently involved in a project to uncover the true story of the sinking of the French sub SURCOUF and to locate its position.”
HARRY’S NOTE - this is one of the great mysteries of WW II submarine history. We hope STEVE is successful, as the history of submarines needs to have this question resolved. Keep us posted on your progress, STEVE.
4144-1995 ROBERT TRAPASSO USA
4145-1995 MICHAEL LEACH USA
“Occupation - puppeteer (believe it or not). I work out of a theater in New York and occassionally do movies and TV. Enough of that garbage, not let’s talk boats! As hard as I try, I can’t remember when I truly got interested in subs (really U-Boats - everything else pales in comparison).”
4146-1995 DAVID SEARLE USA
4147-1995 HAROLD BROWN USA
4148-1995 JOHN KLEINEMEIER USA
HARRY’s NOTE - It seems that I knew JOHN’s father way back in my early days of racing, when I was a drag racer and before I ever began racing on the major track circuit. His dad and I raced (different classes) at the same drag strip, which is no longer in existance.
