You probably wonder why this regular monthly feature was not on page 5 as it normally is. You might even wonder why there is no US NAVY 'THE WAY IT WAS' in this issue. Many times, a US Navy veteran will complain there is not enough in our KTB Magazine about the US Navy; not enough about the American submarines. I always tell them that it is their story we tell - when the veteran sends his (or her) story here. Why is there no US NAVY 'THE WAY IT WAS' in this issue? Because we have no more stories from American veterans to run. So many times, I have asked American veterans to give us their story and the answer was usually something like - "Great idea! I'll send my story off right away - but this week I can't because I'm playing golf on Monday, fishing on Tuesday, resting on Wednesday and there is bingo on Thursday and so on.........." So to you American veterans I say - please send your stories here so we can tell your story too. Does the US Navy Submarine Service have a great heritage? Do the American Submarine vets have some great stories of bravery and honor? Damn right! But until you, the veteran, send your story here - nobody will remember what you did; what you and your shipmates went through except you and when you depart on your 'ETERNAL PATROL' it will all be lost. Please don't let that happen. Please send your stories here - either on an audio cassette tape, typed on paper, hand-written or whatever. Please don't let your memories die. Thanks in advance.
