Skippers of U-125 were Kplt Günter Kuhnke until 15 December, 1941 when command passed to Kplt Ulrich Folkers (at right), winner of the KNIGHTS CROSS. In addition to many operations in the North Atlantic, U-125 operated off the NE coast of Brazil in September of 1941; off Freetown (Africa) in October 1942 and again in October 1942; was one of the PAUKENSCHLAG boats off the American east coast from Nantucket to Cape Hatteras in January of 1942; in the Caribbean in May of 1942; in the Gulf of Guinea over August and September of 1942 and west of Gibraltar over December 1942 and January of 1943. ALL SHIPS SUNK BY U-125 WERE UNDER FOLKERS 26.01.42 WEST IVIS Amer stmr 5,666 GRT
Folkers reported one hit on OLNEY, but the target reported an attack by U-Boat but with no hit. The tanker was dead in the water during this attack. This was the first ship ever attacked by U-125.
