U-Boat Pens Just Found
in the United States

by Harry Cooper

Remember that headline in KTB #113 last month? OKAY, here's the scoop - there were NO German U-Boat pens located in the USA; there were no places where the U-Boats got help, food, fuel or local bread despite so many romantic rumors otherwise. But there were indeed U-Boat pens located on the Gulf coast of Florida

Since these were not used by German U-Boats, who used them? They were used by the US Army Air Corps to practice bombing the real German U-Boat pens on the French coast but here on the coast of Florida, they could practice without anyone shooting at them. Well, other than the occasional Red-Neck and his shotgun.....

This area has a wealth of wartime historical construction which includes German U-Boat pens, a complete and accurate copy of the big German V-4 factory and launch that was in France - again so the bombers could practice without anyone shooting at them. And when the war was over, the first American rocket base was also located here. Who knows what else was built in this area for the eventual goal of attacking German fortified areas - we hope to get more information from our Members in this area. We will let you know as more information comes available.
