U-124We know that means there is an error that needs correcting, and in KTB 113 we made quite a few. K.K. REINHARD HARDEGEN (102-LIFE-1985) telephoned here to give us the corrections as concerns U-124. He made two Feindfahrten (war patrols) on U-124 as Kommandantschuler - Skipper in training. He tells us:
CAPTAIN HARDEGEN, we thank you sincerely for taking the time - and the expense - to telephone and give us the correct information. It is only through the involvement of the veterans themselves, the men who were there, that we can maintain accurate and correct records of the actions of history. Awa MaruYOYA KAWAMURA (1739-LIFE-1991) sends this correction: "The AWA MARU was not a hospital ship. She was a passenger liner. She was transporting relief goods for Allied Prisoners of War and she was guaranteed safe passage by the Allied authorities. She was displaying green crosses on her hull." Thanks much YOYA. We always try to be totally accurate, but when we slip; we do indeed appreciate the updates from our Members.
