We all remember when this TYPE IX-C boat was located and raised by a group headed up by LARS SUNN PEDERSEN (3782-1994) and AGE JENSEN (3783-1994). The salvage effort was a huge success and the boat was scheduled to be the main attraction at a Maritime History Museum that was soon to be built. Now there is a great tragedy ready to befall this boat. The effort to locate the boat went well enough; the salvage of the boat went smoothly enough - it made all the news around the globe. It seemed like all was on track, but then comes the problem. The problem, simply stated, is MONEY! Actually, lack of it would be a better way to state it. I have been in touch with LARS regarding this situation and he has now given his permission to put this information into our KTB Magazine. While the salvage of the boat went well, the bills began to add up and soon U-534 was swimming in a huge sea of red ink. On the plus side, there is a possibility that U-534 might be sold to a group in England to make a museum out of her. On the minus side, the rent on the property where U-534 now sits will be raised at the end of September and the new rent will be an enormous increase. If all goes well, U-534 will be sent to the UK to be made into a museum for all to see like U-505 at the MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY (326-1987) in Chicago. Otherwise, it appears that a breaker's yard will be the inglorious fate for U-534. And so LARS and AGE are looking for an 'ANGEL' with very deep pockets and a big heart to stave off this terrible fate. If any Member with very deep pockets will help, please contact this HQ and we'll put you in contact with LARS and AGE.
