The Largest Submarine

Russian Typhoon

by Harry Cooper

What is the largest submarine built in the world today? That's a pretty easy question to answer - that would be the 25,000 ton TYPHOON built by the Russian Navy.

The key word is 'today'. Within the next one or two years, there will be a submarine that will dwarf the biggest 'BOOMERS' in the US Navy or the Russian Navy - these submarines will be 1,200 feet in length - and that is one hell of a BIG submarine!

Who will build these leviathans? Where will they be built? Why would anyone build such huge submarinies? The answers will be in KTB #113 next month.
