10 Years Ago in our KTB

In KTB #17, we asked Members to suggest an emblem for our SHARKHUNTERS to use as our own. We reported that USS SILVERSIDES (SS 236) was being used for certain shots in the movie 'WAR AND REMEMBRANCE'.

Because of the reported death of my son in KTB #16, KTB #17 was a short issue. He was my only child (at that time) and was the whole world to me. Even though it is more than ten years ago - in my mind, it was yesterday. Many thanks to all our Members who sent kind words, even now, on this terribly painful loss.

5 YEARS AGO in our KTB

In KTB #63 we reported on the disaster suffered at Miami Beach when the wreckage of an old sailing yacht dubbed 'Hitler's Yacht' by mayor Abe Resnick, was dumped on a living reef rather than the designated location. There was much finger-pointing and blaming but the EPA was going to fine them all. We reported on the new (at that time) Russian TYPHOON Class boomer boats. There were more statistics on U-Boat Victories against aircraft. We reported the departure for ETERNAL PATROL of JOCHEN AHME (163-1986) and of FRITZ GUGGENBERGER (269-1987). There was a photo of Kapitän Paul König. The wreck of USS DRAGONET (SS 293) was located.
