From the data by CAPTAIN ROBERT THEW (333-+-1987) we learn the 6th largest ship ever sunk by submarine was the 28,900 ton I.J.N. aircraft carrier SHOKAKU. She was sunk on 19 June, 1944 by USS CAVALLA (SS 244) under LCDR Herman Kossler.

For KTB #112 next month, do you know what was the 5th largest ship ever sunk by submarine, and what was the submarine? Here is a clue - this was possibly the MOST famous attack by any submarine during World War II. Think about it.....
