There are some new computer games on the market we think you should know about, in case you are one of those who loves to command your own submarine without getting wet..... ACES OF THE DEEP is probably the most technologically advanced of all the computer games on the market (in both disc and CD/ROM), and the CD/ROM version gives you interviews with some of the great Commanders. These were the interviews we did when I was in Germany with a SHARKHUNTERS film team this past July. This is an excellent game! GREY WOLF is another new U-Boat game, available both on disc and CD/ROM, and is less complex and easier to play. According to the people at SOFSOURCE, this is meant to be an 'arcade type' of game. SHARKHUNTERS helped with some of the U-Boat history for the game and it is a fun game to play. U-BOAT by Deadly Games is on the market, but we have no idea what is the quality of this game and we do not plan to find out. In their newsletter announcing the birth of this game, the makers refer to the U-Boaters as 'the bad guys' which prompted a call by DWIGHT McMAHON (615-1988) to Renee Vidmer, who is the head of Deadly games. DWIGHT told Renee that his attempts to portray the German U-Bootfahrer as 'bad guys' was absolutely wrong. According to DWIGHT, Renee told him that all Germans who fought in the War were Nazis or at least, accepted and allowed the Nazi party to grow and flourish and that he stood by his claim that all Germans of the War years were Nazis or Nazi sympathizers. When DWIGHT telephoned me with this information and sent a copy of the newsletter of Deadly Games, I personally wrote to Renee Vidmer and told him that his comments that all Germans who served in World War II were either Nazis or sympathizers were ridiculous and absolutely false. I told him that 'it was bad enough for one man to believe those old propaganda stories, but to print and send this incorrect information out to others is very wrong. I further told him, to believe a lie is stupid, but to publish a lie for many to read is absolutely wrong and dishonorable'. Renee Vidmer did not bother to answer this letter, so one must decide what his motives really are. It is of course, your decision whether to buy this game or not but I personally will not spend my money with a company that will tell old wartime propaganda as if it were historical fact, when it is not.
