What was meant by a 'NECK ITCH' in the U-Bootwaffe? From the list of U-Boat slang compiled by MIKE KOSS (299-1987) we learn that this was a desire by a Skipper to receive the KNIGHTS CROSS. This was also sometimes referred to as a 'SORE THROAT' which could only be cured by receiving the KNIGHTS CROSS.
