US NAVY Submarine combat veteran, 1940 - 1948 with 12 war patrols in the Pacific during
World War II. He was aboard USS SPEARFISH (SS 190) in Manila the day the War
started. They later rescued the nurses and officers off of Corridador just before the island
fell to the advancing Japanese. He also rode USS TREPANG (SS 412) under command
of LCDR Roy Davenport, the only US NAVY officer to EVER receive FIVE NAVY CROSSES. HUBERT finished the War offshore of Japan.

He is equally interested in the Indian Ocean operations, the TENTH FLEET and communications intelligence, and the Italian and Japanese submarines that also made this trip.

He was a WW II pilot with the 5th AIR FORCE in New Guinea, flying P-39 AIRCOBRA and P-47 THUNDERBOLT aircraft. He wrote about his experiences in his book NANETTE, an account of his love affair with his own dicey, untrustworthy yet luciously beautiful AIRCOBRA.

and a full range of American subs. FRANK has many submarine films, fiction as well as historical.

the first I.J.N. TIN CAN in the War. BOB rode that boat for 5 and a half years and became
