Italian

On 6 April, 1942 the ROYAL NAVY destroyer HMS HAVOCK became beached on a shelf near Kalibia, and the Italian submarine ARADAM under TV Oscar Gran, gave her a COUP DE GRACE shot. This was the only action in WW II for Gran.

On 16 November, 1942 the Italian submarine ARADAM under TV Carlo Forni, attacked an unidentified steamer with gunfire and reported some hits. This was the only action in WW II for Forni and these two were the only by the submarine ARADAM.

On 23 May, 1942 ARCHIMEDE under C.C. Gianfranco Gazzana-Priaroggia, attacked a big vessel which was escorting the damaged and burning COMMANDANTE LYRA under tow by a US NAVY tug. They assumed a hit on the heavy cruiser of the PENSACOLA Class, but the detonation appeared to have been only a depth charge dropped by the destroyer USS MOFFETT, who was attacking a German U-Boat located by their SONAR.

On 15 June, 1942 ARCHIMEDE under Gazzana sank the 5,586 ton Panamanian steamer SS CARDINA at 04.45N x 40.55W, using an acoustic torpedo.

On 10 October, 1942 ARCHIMEDE under Saccardo damaged the 16,991 ton British steamer SS NEA HALLAS at 04.05N x 20.15W.

On 8 April, 1943 ARCHIMEDE under Saccardo reported sinking the 3,973 ton Spanish motorship CASTILLO MONTEALLEGRE at 09.46N x 16.50W but there is no reported loss of this ship. ARCHIMEDE did not return from this patrol.
