VADM C. A. Lockwood, ComSub Note - in 1921, USS S-14 was one of 11 new S-Boats that participated in a seven month voyage from the American east coast to Manila, Philippine Islands with LCDR Charles A. Lockwood in command. On 12 May, 1921 S-14 was underway from Portsmouth Navy Yard for the Naval Torpedo Station off Norfolk (R.I.) to pick up torpedoes and warheads. 22 May, 1935 decommissioned; 10 December, 1940 recommissioned and on 1 March, 1941 was assigned to SubBase, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. On 5 August, 1942 she was assigned to SubRon 3 at Coco Solo with Lt Charles E. Loughlin in command. On 18 May, 1945 she was decommissioned at Philadelphia Navy Yard, struck from the Navy list and sold for scrap on 16 November, 1945 to North American Smelting in Philadelphia.
Lt C. E. Loughlin was Skipper for all four war patrols.
