We continue with Standard Submarine phraseology from that book that was used to train American submariners back in the days of World War II. Thanks to EUGENE ZIEGLER (2143-1992) for this book that was once classified as 'RESTRICTED'. SECURING PHONES Typically, phones are secured on receipt of an order from the control station. (Order) All compartments, secure phones. (Reports) Forward room, securing phones. Battery forward, securing phones. Etc. Phones are never secured without permission from the OOD. In special instances, it may be necessary to ask permission to secure.
