Tag und Nacht und Nacht und Tag

by Harry Cooper

More stanzas:

When foaming spray envelopes the ship,
And it pitches and tosses and trembles and rolls,
When the storm the sea rends asunder,
When the breath of the watch turns to ice in the cold,
Do you know, do you know what that means?

    Convoy! Planes, destroyers, cruisers unite
To guard their freighters; attack the foe,
    Angrily hurling bomb upon bomb,
Till the U-Boat bursts with a splitting blast!
Do you know, do you know what it means?

Yes, do you know indeed what time it is, what it means?
To be swept from life to a watery grave,
Dead, missing, yes, lost and forgotten,
No more than chaff in the careless wind,
Do you know, do you know what that means?

That song says a lot about life aboard submarines, doesn't it? Who can help WANDRES confirm this song? Please let us know. Thanks In advance
