Looking for Captain Hans Zeitz...

Found Him

by Harry Cooper

Back in KTB #102, ROBERT GARLOCK (2867-1993) asked if we could locate a U-Boat-Fahrer with the name Zeitz - and we did. We recently received a letter from Captain Hans Zeitz and he tells us this:

"Prof MATTHIAS BRUNIG (1943-1991) has informed me, that ROBERT GARLOCK is in search of a former German submariner of my name. It is my impression that I may be the man he is looking for. My curriculum vitae is as follows:

Born 17 Sept 1924; entered the German NAVY June 1924; promoted Leutnant zur See December 1944; duty as second Lt. in U-953 (C.O. was OBLT HERBERT A. WERNER 18-C-1983) until end of WW II; entered Federal German NAVY Dec 1956; career as FPB Cdr and Adm Staff Officer; last assignment Dean of Naval Faculty, Armed Forces Staff College; retired Sept 1983."
