RALPH got his Membership in SHARKHUNTERS as a Christmas gift from his daughter, and in his biog, he writes:

"I joined the MERCHANT MARINE 8 December, 1942, attended Hoffman Island and Sheepshead Bay basic training stations. I made 6 wartime voyages, one 'HOG ISLANDER' one 'T-2' tanker and 4 'LIBERTY' ships, all as an AB.

Have been awarded the ATLANTIC, MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST and the PACIFIC War Zone Medals; also the PHILIPPINE LIBERATION & INDEPENDENCE Medals, along with the PHILIPPINE PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION BAR, the VICTORY MEDAL, the NEW YORK STATE CONSPICUOUS SERVICE Medal, the SOVIET UNION 40 YEARS OF VICTORY IN THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR 1941-1945 from a trip to Molotovsk and Murmansk, Russia, and also the MERCHANT MARINE COMBAT BAR."

In October of 1993, RALPH held the third reunion of US MERCHANT MARINE Veterans and more than 200 attended, representing 15 states. RALPH himself, sponsors, hosts and finances the entire gathering himself. The next one is scheduled in mid-October, 1994.

He is 28 years of age, married for eight years and has three children. PAUL is a Senior Software Engineer with a company that publishes educational home software and he is a World War II buff, a collector of books and militaria.

TOM makes historic miniatures of - anything. He has made an exploding T-72 Iraqui tank, a WW I aerial dogfight, a Roman war galley and many others, some of which have won top prizes in modeling contests.

These are the last of the 706 new Members who joined SHARKHUNTERS in 1993, and that is a record number of new Members in one year. We hope all our 1993 Members stay with us for many, many years and we hope that we sign up more new Members in 1994 than in 1993. WELCOME ABOARD!
