Station Test

Standard Submarine Phraseology

by Harry Cooper

A station test is conducted whenever a circuit is newly-manned, or when there is some question whether particular stations have been manned and also at hourly intervals during each watch. The nature of the test is indicated by the following example:

(Order) All compartments, control testing.

(Reports) Forward room, aye. Battery forward, aye. Conning tower, aye. etc.

The stations answer in order from forward aft. If any station does not reply within five seconds, the next station comes in. The station passed over then enters at the end of the list.
