(3290-1993) BARON GEORG von ZIRK USA GEORG is a German national who was living in Poland before World War II began. He is a survivor of the uprising between the Germans and the Poles prior to the invasion of Poland where GEORG lost four members of his family. He joined the Luftwaffe and served with distinction. He flew with KG 55 in the Russian campaign and with KG 4, a PATHFINDER unit. He flew a total of 81 combat missions, 65 of which were night operations over the Eastern Front. He participated in 13 major battles.

After the German surrender in May of 1945, he was captured by the Russians but he escaped from Soviet captivity and returned to his home. He was then confined in prisons and concentration camps by the Polish government for two years but in the summer of 1947, he escaped into East Germany and then in January 1948, he escaped again, this time into West Germany. More than 24 years ago, he came to the United States and is now an American citizen. He wrote a book "RED GRIFFINS OVER RUSSIA" which is available, HAND-SIGNED of course, from SHARKHUNTERS.

POWELL USA A submariner of thirty years, BILL graduated from the US NAVAL ACADEMY in 1960; served aboard USS GUDGEON (SS 567), USS THOMAS JEFFERSON (SSBN 618), USS KAMEHAMEHA (SSBN 642), USS GUITARRO (SSN 665); was Skipper of USS HENRY L. STIMSON (SSBN 655/BLUE) and was the first Skipper of USS FLORIDA (SSBN 728/BLUE). CAPTAIN POWELL's SHARKHUNTERS Membership was a Christmas gift from his sons STEVE POWELL (1414-1990) & MIKE POWELL (2846-1993).

(3298-1993) DAVID JOHN HOLLAND USA Descendant of the man who designed the first American submarines; and as we are now learning, the first I.J.N. submarines as well.

(3299-1993) OTIS MOOREHEAD USA Veteran of the US NAVY ARMED GUARD, he served aboard the LIBERTY SHIP SS SEBASTIAN CEREMENO which was torpedoed by U-511 (Schneewind) on 27 June, 1943 in the Indian Ocean.

(3300-1993) ENS. GEORGE GAY USA The only member of TORPEDO SQUADRON 8 to survive that famous and ill-fated attack on the Japanese carriers at the BATTLE OF MIDWAY. While this was his most famous moment in history, GEORGE GAY continued as a combat pilot in World War II, then became an airline pilot for many years. I believe I'd feel mighty safe in an airliner flown by this very lucky pilot.

(3307-1993) LT. GENERAL CLAUDE M. KICKLIGHTER USA GENERAL KICKLIGHTER has commanded at every level and his list of awards and medals, both U.S. as well as from foreign militaries is far too great for proper space here. He is now Special Assistant to the Secretary of the ARMY and Executive Director of the 50th Anniversary of World War II Commemorative Committee. Prior to this assignment, he was Commanding General, UNITED STATES ARMY, Pacific.

(3308-1993) INGRID SCHARFENBERG GERMANY INGRID owns the hotel that was once the headquarters for the SS guard detachment that provided security for the homes & persons of Hitler, Goring, Bormann and Speer at the Obersalzburg. Some of the tunnels and bunker systems that criss-cross through the mountains beneath these homes begin in the cellar of her hotel.

He has served aboard many boats, including USS SARDA (AGSS 488), USS BUGARA (SS 331), USS GUARDFISH (SSN 612), USS KAMEHAMEHA (SSBN 642), USS LAFAYETTE (SSBN 616) and was Skipper of USS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (SSBN 640). His command assignments include ComSubRon 14 at Holy Loch (Scotland) and Deputy Director of StratSubDiv. His medals and awards, both personal and Unit, would take a lot of space to list individually. RADM GOEBEL is currently ComSubGru 2.
