Feurerland Base Located

WWII German Sub Base
in South America

by Harry Cooper

The last operational German Naval base of World War II has been located at the southern tip of South America. It was to this base GRAF SPEE was headed when she encountered the ROYAL NAVY cruiser group of HMS AJAX, HMS ACHILLES and HMS EXETER but the resultant battle and the fear of the RN cruisers following her to this secret base caused OKM to deny Captain Langsdorf permission to go to FEUERLAND base. The result was the loss of GRAF SPEE in Montevideo Harbor.

One of the German blockade-breakers remained in this secret base for 70 days while repairs were done to her machinery. And at the end of the War, a large Japanese submarine was en route for FEUERLAND base but the capitulation caused her to turn back.

Is this base a reality? Actually, there were more than just one base, but one in particular did have a facility that could have housed several thousand men. We have acquired the charts showing where to find this base and the documents that tell the above information. When we can find a historical archive, film production company etc that will spend the time and the necessary money to go to this base and film it to save it for history, then we will pack our bags and head south.

When it happens, you'll read it first here on the pages of our KTB Magazine - with photographs!
