Letters to the Editor

by the readers

SCOTT DIETMAN (2566-1992) works in the recycling industry for the past 25 years and he writes that he has "been interested in WW II for more than 25 years and have been collecting WW II German memorabilia, especially Naval and trying to specialize in U-Boats. I am proud to be a Member of SHARKHUNTERS. The KTB is a GREAT Magazine."

TOM CARAMELA (2709-1993) writes: "I've received my first issue and it was great."

PHIL McGRATH (2717-1993) writes: "I wanted to take a few minutes to drop you a line and tell you what a pleasure it was to drive up from Orlando and meet with you at the SHARKHUNTERS Headquarters. I truly enjoyed spending the better part of the day discussing the various histories of a number of the U-Boats that operated off the US coast during the War."

Our KTB as a Teaching Tool

WILBUR PARRY (2174-1992) is a teacher, and he writes: I use our SHARKHUNTERS Magazine to show my high school students that new historical research is done every day."

BILL DUNN (1019-1989) and his family visited here some weeks back, and BILL wrote this:

"I didn't really realize the amount of work that is required to keep SHARKHUNTERS running smoothly until our visit. I was impressed by the scope and quantity of data you have gathered regarding the U-Boat war. "The prints were really nice and I plan to order some."

(HARRY's NOTE - Bill is referring to our HAND-SIGNED historical prints that you see in our SHARKHUNTERS Catalog.)

W. MICHAEL HAMRICK (2966-1993) writes: "The last KTB was enough to demand being read cover to cover at one sitting -- the day it arrived."

HARRY CULLEN (289-1987) writes:
"The last KTB featuring OTTO KRETSCHMER (122-LIFE- 1985) was masterful, SUPERB! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and am looking forward to my future issues. "

CDR JIM SENCINDIVER (2689-1993) writes:
"I have enjoy"] reading my first issue of the KTB Magazine, especially the war diary from U-81. I am a little surprised that there is very little 'cross-pollination' between SHARKHUNTERS and the NAVAL SUBMARINE LEAGUE (223-1987).

(HARRY's NOTE: Perhaps that is something we can work on. Will let you know if anything materializes.)

PAUL GAUZE (2984-1993) writes:
"It is a pleasure and an honor to be a Member of SHARKHUNTERS. I have always been interested in German U-Boats, but have always been skeptical of some U- Boat stories told in some of the other magazines. But I have found that the KTB gives first hand experience of the men who manned the UBoats. My dad and I are collectors of German militaria and both of us hope that SHARKHUNTERS sail on for many years to come. We find it to be the only magazine where the truth is told of the happenings of the U-Boats. "

STEVE MUELLER (3055-1993) was with us in Chicago last year, and he writes:
"I had a really good time at the SHARKHUNTERS CONVENTION in Chicago. It was really nice meeting you as well as ADMIRAL KRETSCHMER and the others. I am proud to be a Member of SHARKHUNTERS. I have a great interest in the history of the U-Boats as well as the history of all of Germany's WW I and WW II armed forces."

ALFRED ECKERT (3120-1993) writes:
"Thanks for rushing the KTB to me which I read from the first to last page. I am a former TorpedoMechaniker. Thanks for the wisdom and courage to start SHAKHUNTERS INTERNATIONAL.

PETER STANFORD (1761-1991) writes: "Good for you, digging up this kind of material and getting it down in such lively fashion. " PETER is President of the National Maritime Historical Society, so his words have an especially sweet sound.

ALFRED FRIEDRICH (2468-1992) is an American submarine veteran and he came by for a visit with his wife, and he writes:
"Thank you so much for the tour you gave my wife and me. We really enjoyed it. Keep up the great work."

AL sent us a copy of the book SUBMARINE HUMOR; it's really funny. Many thanks, AL. It was a pleasure meeting you both.

PARKER EIMBALL (1902-1991) is a man of few words. He writes:
"Fine organization - great newsletter."

GUSTAV BEHREND (2706-1993) served in the U-Boats during the War, and he writes:
"The good job SHARKHUNTERS does with the KTB Magazine is acknowledged everywhere and we admire your activities in the field of historical evidence."

JOHN J. REDLER (498-1988) is a combat veteran of the War at Sea, and he writes:
"I look forward with great pleasure and great curiosity to receiving the KTB every month. In fact, when I receive it, I can't put it down until I have read the entire issue. "

WAYNE PICKELS (768-1988) was in the first group of US NAVY sailors to board the sinking U-505, and he writes that he ,
... salutes CAPTAIN HARDEGEN (102-LIFE-1985) for his war record and his high awards." WAYNE will be one of the HONORED GUESTS at U-505 this June, and he says that he hopes he will meet CAPTAIN HARDEGEN there.
