It occurred to me that, while we do not have full details on the Italian or I.J.N. submarines, we do have some of their action reports and our thought is that a little information is better than no information, so we are beginning this new section. One day we will have further and more detailed history on these boats, but for now .......... On 7 February, 1943 the Italian submarine ACCIAIO under Beltrami, torpedoed and sank the 409 ton British ASW trawler TERVANI in the Mediterranean Sea at 37.02N x 05.55E. This was the only ship attacked by ACCIAIO during World War II. On 3 February, 1942 the IJN. submarine I-1 under Ankyu sank the 8667 ton Netherland motorship SIANTAR at 21.20S x 108.45E in the Indian Ocean. This was the only ship attacked by I-1 during World War II. We hope this information, although small, is of interest, and we will continue month to month with more of this data on the Italian, Japanese and other submarines.
