He remembers his father telling him of the German submarines bringing weapons to Ireland, to help the I.R.A. His cousin, Michael, was a General of the Irish Republican Army, and Tom would like to know if any of the history of U-Boats bringing weapons into Ireland. So would we, so if any U-Bootfahrer or historian has information on U-Boats bringing weapons into Ireland, let us know.

DR HAIDER, in the center of this photo, was Prime Minister of the state Karnten in Austria when we visited there in 1990, and each of our group received engraved invitations to an evening reception with many highly decorated veterans of the War. DR HAIDER is now well-placed in the Austrian Parliament.

He was US AIR FORCE pilot 1954-1957 and has flown many types of planes including B-25 & B-29 bombers, large passenger jets and of course, the DC-3. A Member of the Confederate Air Force and pilot of a B-25 named 'DEVIL DOG'.

(1629-1990) DR. ERWIN SCHATZ AUSTRIA DR. SCHATZ began in the Crew of October 1941 at Stralsund, then saw service with the minesweepers in the Bay of Biscay in 1942, rode U-514 as Watch Officer in the North Atlantic in 1943 and finally rode U-1306 in the Baltic 1944 and 1945. His rank was LT zS (similar to LTjg in the US NAVY). DR SCHATZ and his wife Analise have been with us for many SHARKHUNTERS events including our trip to RED CHINA and RUSSIA, and he is quite an expert on the Austrian submarine warfare of WW I.

(1650-LIFE-1990) THOMAS P. McGUIRE USA He served on USS HEWELL (AKL 14) during the Korean conflict. HEWELL was a light cargo ship, carrying ammunition, beer and mail to the guys fighting in Korea and she was home-ported out of Sasebo, Japan. This is the same type ship as we saw in the movie 'MR. ROBERTS' with a 40 man crew, including officers. TOM later served aboard USS JASON (ARH 1).
