Dolfo's Bird

Gen. Adolf Galland's ME-109

A letter just received from CAPTAIN TONY SPEIR (1435-1990) at the SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY MUSEUM states: "I was thrilled to see that "Dolfo" Galland has joined.

(HARRY's NOTE - we recently 'drafted' GENERAL ADOLF GALLAND (2854-1993) into membership).

"That Messerschmitt Bf 109E that we have here standing on its nose was under his command when it was force-landed in Britain on 28 November 1940 (my birthday! and I have been writing to him about it quite recently. On that day, 'Dolfo' shot down his 56th victim, a young RAF pilot officer named Pat Wells who now lives in this country and is also one of my corresponding friends."'

GENERAL GALLAND, you will be pleased to know that CAPTAIN TONY and the group at the SA MILITARY MUSEUM take very good care of that aircraft, and all the other displays there as well; including the ONLY Me 262 twin-seat jet NIGHTFIGHTER left in the world!
