Lights: The party is on sailing ship far out at sea on a voyage.

Camera: During the voyage the ship stumbles across an uncharted island and the ship's captain stops momentarily to explore it. The crew discovers a wide variety of fruits and berries as well as fresh water. They also find a peculiar gemstone which is about the size of a grapefruit. About a dozen of the stones are discovered and brought on board.

Action: Several days after the ship has visited the island, several crewmembers are found horribly mauled and mangled. The strange gemstones were actually eggs which have since hatched.

The creatures are extremely elusive apparently they are able to blend in with the wooden fittings and riggings of the ship and escape notice.

As such the party will find it difficult, if not impossible, to kill the creatures without destroying the ship itself.
