"Who is that man down the way building those houses? - Like he is someone!" The farmer leaned over his rickety railing as he badgered the Constable. "Look, he 'as been here only a month and has one house built. Where is he gittin' the money for that. He is up to no good, likely a bandit from far away come here for no good reason or a lousy merchant come to buy all our land." The Constable forces a grin across his face, as he is a good man. "He is from far away - that is right. He sure is building that house fast - that is right." "Uh huh! My cousin tells me he's only been to the temple once and did no leave an offering befitting a man with two houses! Why look at his hair, all tied up in knots like a woman at a wedding and those cloths, my eyes can barely look upon them things. It's disrespectful to wear such outlandishness!" The Constable looked towards the newcomer. The Eastener, Nethrel Da Lamore, walked sturdily down the street towards the tavern and away from his house. The Constable knew there was something unusual about Nethrel. He was new to the town, was building two sturdy houses with stone effacements connected by a walkway on the second floor. A very martial design. He frequented the tavern, though drank little and asked about travelers and strangers moving through town. The Constable was aware that Nethrel was more than he seemed, the money. the curiosities, the hair, the clothing.. Nothing added up for the Constable. But he had no plans to bother him, or question him or pry into his business, for the Constable is a good man. Nethrel Da Lamore is indeed unusual. He is of noble descent, though such low nobility that the recognition he felt he deserved never arrived. So he turned to various machinations to increase his stature in society. Dueling, warring, writing, and since each of these were miserable failures for Nethrel, he turned at the very last to sorcery, something about which he knew little and cared less. But as capricious fate spun its wheels, Nethrel was a natural. This was for the better as his schooling dignified him and at the same time humbled him. Nethrel became a good man. Sadly, bad things happen to good people and Nethrel, in his travels and research crossed the path of a venerable and ancient Ogre by name of Hath-el Makel-el Sinj. A famed and powerful ruler of a small land deep in the forest. Hath-el Makel-el Sinj cared little for outsiders and upstarts and when Nethrel entered his lands, Hath-el Makel-el Sinj took note and had him watched. Nethrel never intended to do what he did, nevertheless, shortly after his arrival, a revolution occurred and Hath-el Makel-el Sinj was overthrown. Interestingly, Nethrel never even met Ilath-el Makel-el Sinj and was quite surprised when, some years later and after Nethrel's return to civilization, Hath-el Makel-el Sinj started to enact a vengeance upon Nethrel. This wide ranging and brutal retaliation extended to friends and family and Nethrel seemed incapable of stopping it. So Nethrel did the next best thing, he gathered his most precious belongings and left his homeland hoping to bring Hath-el Makel-el Sinj after him. And Hath-el Makel-el Sinj did follow. For years Nethrel traveled gathering both wisdom and power and more importantly knowledge of Hath-el Makel-el Sinj. So Nethrel believes he can defeat Hath-el Makel-el Sinj and has decided to make a stand here, in this town. Nethrel is building his house and preparing himself for the battle to come.
