Information: Signup at NASAMW table during Coldwars. New Books on Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. William J. Hamblin

There are three new books which should be of interest to wargamers. The first is Hassig, Ross. War and Society in Ancient Mesoamerica. Berkeley: University of California Press, 1992. It is the only general military history of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, and contains a vast bibliography, and detailed references to all primary sources (mainly art before the fourteenth century). Hassig as also written Aztec Warfare: Imperial Expansion and Political Control. Norman, OK.: University of Oklahoma Press. 1988, a much more detailed study of only the Aztec period. Again, an excellent work. Finally, John M. D. Pohl and Angus McBride have written Aztec, Mixtec and Zapotec Armies. London: Osprey Publishing Ltd., 1991. It is a fine book, with wonderful plates in the usual McBride fashion.
