Two Ancients Tournaments

Monterrey Area

THE JORDAN CUP

Yes, it's time fat, the 7th annual JORDAN CUP. The Monterey Peninsula's premier 25mm WRG Tournament is coming. In case you've forgotten, this is an Official NASAMW Qualifying Event for the NATIONALS. The winner (in addition to getting some other nice stuff) will also get his name added to our JORDAN CUP "Perpetual Trophy". We*d also like to particularly congratulate last year's JORDAN CUP winner, Alan Crandall, who went on to win this year's NASAMW WRG National Championship

Our 4-round, two-day event will feature pre-set terrain -- but you will dice far weather, generals, and type of encounter. Rounds will last 4 hours, Armies will be 1600 points; and you will be allowed 2 "lists". There will be a random draw fat, opponents in the first round, with a "Swiss Pair" system used after that. We will be playing on 4: tables. JORDAN CUP is limited to 20 players. Cost is $15 if RSVP by 31 October; $18 after that.

WRG 7.4 modifications will be in effect, supplemented by the 1992 NASAMW rule interpretations for, both the JORDAN CUP and the ART OF WAR competitions.

ART OF WAR

For those of you who would rather play a more relaxed game, we are also holding our first "ART OF WAR" tourney at the same time. It will not be a "sanctioned" tournament and will not qualify its winners for anything -- it's just fat, fun (and a few wall plaques and medals).

This five-round 15mm tourney is also scheduled for two days. However, you will not need an army; instead you will use a variety of different armies as you re-fight a number of historical battles. Your terrain and initial deployment will be pre-set to attempt to duplicate historical conditions.' Each round will last three hours.

Essentially this is a "duplicate" type of tournament, where your "score" depends on how well you do compared to the others who fight the same side of the same battle. After all, just as in history, not all of the match-ups will be absolutely even.

Due to the nature of this event, it will be limited to 10 players who must commit to play the entire tourney. We realize that this is a very different approach, but we think it will be fun -- and you won't have to worry about any "army lists". Cost is $15 if RSVP by 31 October; $18 after that.

WHEN AND WHERE

Both Tournaments will be held on November, 14 & 15. Like out, last few tourneys, the location will be in the "Recreation Center" of the EL CAMINO MOBIL PARK, 3320 Del Monte Avenue, MARINA, CA.

Both WRG and NASAMW Army Lists are allowed -- and you must be willing to show your army list to your opponent at the end of the game if he asks to check it. Round one of both tourneys will start at 9 am and end by 8 pm (with break times) on Saturday, 6 pm on Sunday. We also hope to have a table (at, tables available for "Open Play" fat, those not taking part in either tourney.

HOW TO RSVP

Please let us know as soon as possible if you intend to play so that we can have the right number of tables rented and ready. Do so by RSVPing to Jeff Hudelson. Let us know which tourney you want yo play in and what Army You will be playing if in the JORDAN CUP (so we know what types of terrain to pre-set).
