Changes and Improvements

by Terry Gore

Since our write-up in the Courier, our subscriptions have begun to increase again (as they did after our reviews by the MWAN and PW Review). When initially conceived, this newsletter was intended to reach a maximum of perhaps 25 to 50 subscribers and friends -- total. Consequently, our printing runs have been limited to that number of issues. Once these ran out (last month), we were faced with a problem-- whether to reprint the first three issues or to simply Xerox them off of existing copies. We opted, due to financial reasons, for the latter.

Any new subscribers will receive volumes 1-3 in a xeroxed format Basically, this means that the print may not be as bold and that the photos may be of dubious quality. To make up for this, our year-end bonus issue will be much larger than the standard monthly ones. This will also be an added bonus for those of you who subscribed initially.

I would like at this time to welcome Kevin Hendryx to our staff. Kevin will be our resident cartoonist His work has appeared in the MWAN and in SAGA. Thank you, Kevin, for giving us a needed hand. We are also in need of a figure reviewer. Anyone who has access to a variety of Ancient/Dark Ages figures please, write me for details. Book reviews are another feature I would like to include (as well as rules reviews)..

Due to overwhelming interest and the fact that most of you have an army of this period, and my own renewed exploration of the era, we will be expanding the range of our coverage from Ancients to through the Renaissance up to and including the English Civil War. This should open up our ranges of interest and attract more subscribers as well. Hopefully, this will also generate some more subscriber articles which we are in need of. Writing articles for both The Courier and Miniature Wargamer (hopefully, not the same one for both of them again!) has introduced me to some new wargamers who I hope will share some of thier thoughts with us all. That goes for all of you. Why not write up a battle report or rules dispute or tell us about your favorite army list and it's strengths and/or weaknesses? If you don't have time to type it, send it anyway. Dave'll type it up (Surprise!).

Here's wishing you all a good summer and successful convention season!
