I did enjoy my games at the tournament, the challenge of playing the Fatamids worried me more than the Viking's as they were a new departure (I played my practice game against the Vikings the previous week). I was fortunate to get all my terrain picks, but as most of them ended up in my opponents half of the table I was still very worried. I think Jim's idea of putting cavalry in the woods in the centre would really have thrown me a curve. I was also surprised that the SC didn't use fire and flee though I'm a bit sketchy on it's use, suspect that it would have left me very exposed. My 3 Bow & Various, LAI were worth there weight in gold, doing a disproportionate amount of damage and proving my only clear defence against Bow cavalry. Still a very interesting game, which I was glad to see done as I'm always uneasy at the speed cavalry can turn things around. I've not played a horse army in MW, though in most rules cavalry are my preference. It was also interesting to note that the Village...my new toy...proved to be a stumbling block in both games for my opponents. Paul had the misfortune to roll +5 on a random charging into it with his Viking huscarls, get 1.9 hits v my 1.1 and see the dice rolls give me a 1 and him a 10 (with no priest !!) ....You just can't fight that kind of luck.
