SAGA Publishing

by Terry Gore

Well, here I am experimenting again on a new look as SAGA enters its 15th year of publication. That in itself is hard to believe, but as I look back at some of the older issues, I can certainly see how the evolution has taken place!

At any rate, let me catch you up to all the news. I've decided to make it a full-time effort as a writer and publisher. In doing so, I have expanded SAGA into SAGA Publishing, a business that will branch out a bit into more mainstream military history while still keeping the underlying theme of wargaming. There are a number of publications that you will be seeing in the coming year, including The Campaign for England - 1066 (my own work); The Roman-Jewish War (Jim Bloom) Grunwald 1410 (David Bonk) and The Byzantine Military (Perry Gray). Each of these books will be similar in format to Osprey, with full color glossy covers, some color inside and 48-60 pages in length. They will be primarily military history but each will contain sections on wargaming the campaigns and battles discussed within as well, using not only MW, but WHAB and DBA.

Alongside these titles will be several 'new' scenario booklets for miniature wargamers, including Arthurian Warfare (Mark Bloom), Medieval Battles (myself), and the Wars of the Roses (Jeff Ball and myself). All told, along with the rules and army list booklets, SAGA Publishing will be a very busy line of work for me!

As we gear up for Cold Wars in April, take a moment to check out the SAGA web site at www.saga-publishing.com. Rich Jarosz had done a fantastic job of getting the site up and running. It is crammed full of pictures, articles, battle reports, upcoming events and much, much more. Make it a point to stop by a take a look.
