A Free Society

by Terry Gore

In the wake of the horrific attacks on this country, I ask that we all take a few moments to reflect on the loss of life in NYC and Washington, D.C. as well as the tough days ahead for our country.

We are indeed fortunate to live in a free society where we can enjoy our lives and pastimes without persecution by institutionalized religious fanatics or extremists. Our hobby is not one of glorification of war, but of an understanding of it. Through our readings and research we discover that, yes, history does repeat itself for those foolish enough to ignore the lessons of the past. Through our study of war and politics, we have a valuable insight into the workings of not only the dynamics of human nature, but the psychological implications of the nature of leadership as well.

Fall In is coming up in less than a month and a half. I for one am really looking forward to this convention. This has become my favorite as we get to visit the Gettysburg battlefield as well as meet all you 'old' friends and new. We have a limited slate of demo games this year. Dave Bonk is putting on the RW Battle of Lodwigowo, 1657 on Friday at 6:00. I believe there are a couple of others as well, but our primary focus is on Alex's 25mm MW mini-tournament on Friday , Bob Eldridge's 15mm MW and my own 25mm AW tournament on Saturday. As always, interested people can sit in on a tournament game and command a division in order to learn the rules system. Just show up and play!

We have been very busy with the AW rules and the army lists for both AW and MW. Not much in the way of changes, but more explanatory text and examples as well as additional army lists. Still no word on the release of the Foundry edition, but I still have the MW SAGA.
