Cold Wars and Planning Ahead
for Historicon

Shan Palmatier had the pleasure(?) of facing my Marian Romans at Cold Wars in the second round of our tournament. We both had a good time as his hoplites first broke my center (Elite Spartans are tough!!!), but I managed to get around his flank and smashed his right in a quid pro quo.

As I said before, we plan on running a Medieval Warfare tournament in 25mm at Historicon, with Mitch Abrams running the same in 15mm on Saturday, two rounds compulsory, a third optional. Anyone who wishes to volunteer to run an event, let me know…. SAGA will provide prizes as well as the nifty NASAMW plaques.

Preliminary thoughts on the MW tournament at Historicon:

Armies will be at 525 points, with priests and supply extra, if you want them...and I suggest you do.
I also feel that a 12" set-on will speed the games, so this is a consideration as well for a 3 1/2 hour round.
I might also be using some form of terrain bonus for those Welch/Irish/Slav/Prussian style armies that can use some homefield advantage. Spend 25 points and get a terrain piece of your choice where you want it.

It's not too soon to let me know if you are planning to play in the tournament. Please email or write me so I have some preliminary idea of table space requirements. We should be okay with 24 players, but if there are more, I have to know ahead of time. I'll be contacting some guys who are not members of the rules discussion group about this later on.
