Plenty of interesting things occurring at the moment, not least of which is the branching out of SAGA into the publication of scenario booklets for Medieval Warfare. Initially, I envisioned a single, large booklet with 30-50 scenarios in it. Once we got to thinking about this, however, Jeff and I decided to do period specific booklets, each covering a particular war or campaign. This allows for a much smaller (and a lot less expensive) publication and lets us take our time with each one, covering the history of the conflict, the armies involved, orders of battle for each individual contest as well as painting guides, color maps and tactical hints. Jeff and I are working on the first booklet, covering the Wars of the Roses. Next in line will be one Mark Bloom, Jeff and myself are doing on the Arthurian wars. We hope to have the first booklet available next month some time.

We will be offering these in two versions. The first is the usual hard copy. We will print these up at home (allowing us to use color maps, etc.) and send them out postage paid for probably $20.00. The second version will be an email set, that you download and print up yourself. These will be $10.00. Also new is the fact that you can now order SAGA products by using your charge cards. We have signed up through www.paypal.com with Bruce Taylor as the receiver of charge card orders bbtaylor@frontiernet.net

The printed version of RW will also be hitting the streets in June or early July. We will be doing a very limited test printing of the rules to get some copies out there and in use for feedback and play.

On a personal note, my old business has gone under and currently I'm contracting out on a monthly basis until something else comes along. It's indicative of the times that constants can no longer be counted on as in the past, especially in respect to the business world. Because of this uncertainty, many individuals become quite insular in their lives, having little contact with others as a way of feeling 'safe', at least in their own homes. This hobby helps to alleviate this not only by providing escapes with conventions to go to, but also by letting us communicate with each other via the written word through journals such as this and on the internet. I would like to think I am giving back some of the joy, pleasure and security that I receive from the wargaming hobby. Thanks to all of you for letting me be a part of it.
