Editorial

We are eagerly looking ahead to Cold Wars. The featured tournaments are a 25mm MW one and a 15mm AW. As of this date, we have eight players registered for each. I feel that at Historicon this summer, we will be able to offer both scales for both rules sets. Of, course, this means much more table space, but we'll space the tournaments over two days, with AW on Friday and MW on Saturday.

As with all projects, the rules are taking a lot of time to get 'right', and to this end, the rules discussion group on the onelist has been invaluable. Subscribers can put out a query and have feedback within a day. This has proved to be an absolute gem. Howard Whitehouse, our rules editor, has moved to Toronto and we can now converse on a regular basis without spending a fortune in phone bills. The most recent discussions have revolved around putting the tournament rules into a separate section at the end of the rules book. We have recently moved the Recover Phase to the end of the Turn Sequence and clarified rout/retreat moves for trained troops. All of the latest rules addenda are included later in this issue.

I received the latest issue of Slingshot. The SoA do an excellent job on this publication. Steve Neate (the editor) has announced that he will be stepping down next year. I applaud Steven for all of his hard work as well as his ability to attract interesting feedback and articles.

For those of you who have sent in your subscriptions, thanks! I will send this issue out to everyone who has forgotten to resubscribe last issue. Please take the time to send me your subscription. I would like to hold the line on prices, but I need to keep the subscriber base fairly consistent in order to do so. Caliver will be handling European subscriptions. Keep your letters and emails coming. I am in need of articles. Also, anyone who wishes to see their favorite army in either AW or MW can work it up for me and I'll be happy to take a look at it. See Perry Grey's Maurikian Byzantine list and Dennis Leventhal's Khazars in this issue. You simply have to keep a minimum and maximum number of points (200-1200) for each army. Anyone who would be interested can email me for the points list.
