LAKE GENEVA, WI - Military leaders from throughout history will converge on Milwaukee's MECCA Convention Center August 18-21 to vie for admiral caps, golden laurels, pilot wings, and combat helmets. Even the Nobel Peace Trophy is at stake. These and other trophies will be awarded to winners of dozens of military strategy games and ature army recreations at the 27th annual GEN CON Game Fair. The likes of Julius Caesar, George Patton, star fleet cadets, and submarine commanders will be competing. Attracting 20,000 people, this is the biggest game fair of its kind in the country. For military strategy game lovers, more than 300 different historical wargames and miniatures games will be featured. Active military personnel will also be on band presenting the exciting *War College" lecture series. Highlighting the wargame and miniatures tracks are dozens of tournaments and prizes including: Axis & Allies, WWII Commander trophy; Circus Maximus, Golden Laurel of Liberty; Star Fleet Battles, Captain-General Medal; Pony Wars, marshall badges, cavalry cup, and sabre; Cauldron, Admiral's Cap; plus the Avalon Hill Classics Open, Ninth Annual Diplomacy, Sixth Annual Up Front, five-round Advanced Squad Leader, and the 100-player Nuclear War tournaments. Another convention exclusive will be the National Security Defense Simulation involving a nuclear crisis between the U.S., Russia, and Japan. The overall winner will receive the Nobel Peace Trophy or After the Holocaust consolation prize. Daily fees are just $10.
