Freezywater Publications have produced a fine, short military history of Friedrich of Wittlesbach, "The Victorious". The major part of this small book is taken up with Friedrich's campaigns from 1459 to his death in 1476. one chapter each is devoted to the Battle of Pfeddersheim (4th July 1460) and the Battle of Seckenheim (30th June 1462). The written text is ablely supported by fine maps drawn by Derek Stone.

Two additional chapters add spice to this short history: a short essay by the author entitled: "Some Notes On the Art of War at the Time of Friedrich The Victorious and Surviving Monuments To His Victories" and a chapter devoted to the heraldry of the period. Twentyfour heralds are illustrated in color. Finally there is an interesting appendix and glossary of German terms. Nice touch! A short bibliography is also included.

This is a quality product from start of finish and one that will definitely be of interest to medieval wargamers.
